Frequently asked questions.
What should I expect a budget range to be for a complete garden overhaul and design/installation?
For an average Bay Area garden 25x70 budgets range from $20,000 to $100,000 dependant upon, retaining walls, terracing, hardscape and softs-cape selections, choice of maturity, and variety of trees, or plants.
Do you build retaining Walls?
We install low retaining walls and repair existing walls and fences that do not require a permit. For larger retaining walls over 4ft, permits are required and we refer to our contracting partners or we can assist clients in subcontracting both a geotechnical engineer and a contractor for installation. We are happy to oversee this entire process as the foundations for garden retaining walls need to have a footer that is mindful of future planting.
Do you install lighting?
Yes, we can offer lighting design plans and installation. We use high-quality low-voltage lighting for our installs. We often recommend lighting your garden because it expands the usable hours, and creates visible interest from the house.
Do you install irrigation systems?
Yes, we install smart water irrigation systems that calibrate to local microclimates. We also upgrade existing systems to make them more efficient and can assist clients in applying for water bill credits for water-saving upgrades.
Do you install GreyWater systems?
We collaborate with our preferred licensed water reuse technology companies to create a practical yet visually appealing greywater system. Good grey water systems are designed around your plants. Permitted grey water systems are also entitled to water rebates.
Do you work with concrete?
Our team is highly experienced in working with concrete and can complete smaller concrete installations, repairs, and stucco work. For larger projects, we would work with our trusted concrete contractors.
Do you design drought-tolerant landscapes?
Yes. We specialize in designing drought-tolerant, low-water-use gardens. Climate change requires us to future-proof our garden design by selecting drought-tolerant/ winter wet-tolerant plant palettes that thrive in our unique micro climate.
How long does an installation usually take?
Four to seven weeks depending on the complexity of the project.
What sustainable policies does your company employ?
Since its inception, Plantasia Design Group has always been environmentally conscious, recycling both hard and softscape materials. We always try to use as much of the plant and hardscape fabric of the existing garden that can be successfully incorporated into the new scheme. If materials are not consistent with the new aesthetic, we recycle and donate all unwanted plants, stone, and brick to community gardens throughout the city or find other projects to reuse the materials. Freecycling materials means we send less to the dump and greatly reduces our client's expenditure.

Yes we provide designs for vegetable and fruit gardens and can advise on crop rotation and general husbandry for maximum Bay Area yield
Are you available for consultation for city landscape plan review, general advice etc?

Do you offer regular maintenance?
Yes -we can offer maintenance on a monthly, by annual, or ad hoc basis. We also have a party package where we help set your garden up for special events. This package is for established clients.
